🌱 Shooting Death At S Figueroa St + Bulletproof Vests From Hood Santa

  1. A man was found deceased Thursday after 3 am in a DTLA parking lot. There was “an assault rifle lying next to his body.” This discovery coincides with a “shooting (that) was reported outside the Chevron gas station near the intersection of West Washington Boulevard and South Figueroa Street.” (KTLA)
  2. Tito Rodriguezknown to LA’s most vulnerable families as The Hood Santais helping street vendors. We learned Friday that he fundraised for “bulletproof vests he plans to distribute to street vendors.” “Reported crimes against street vendors in the city of Los Angeles increased by nearly 337%” between 2010 and 2019.   3. Why were three people climbing a crane at a construction site in DTLA? LAPD and LAFD responded to reports of their activities around 11 am near 11th Street and Figueroa. According to witnesses, “two men and (a) woman were reportedly climbing back down when authorities arrived and were believed to have been seen going back inside the building.” (ABC)
  4. Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will apply $10 million to “about 23,000 Bureau of Sanitation accounts” that qualify for trash pick-up debt forgiveness. It covers fees “that low-income Los Angeles residents accrued in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” to take any action.(My News LA)
  5. If you’re looking for a fun and educational outing, head to the Natural History Museum. We learned Friday that the LA Underwater exhibit is now open. Designers created a “multimedia-rich, immersive exhibition” that takes visitors back 15 million years. (LAist)
